Funeral services for Mrs. Yvonne Ford Davis, age 87, of Ore City, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Ore City, with Pastor Johnny Q. Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Diana, Texas, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Mrs. Davis will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will also be a time of visitation with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Yvonne Ford Davis was born the third child of ten children on August 25, 1937, in Upshur County, Texas to the proud parents of the late W. H. and Ardalia Young Ford.

A devoted member of Snow Hill Baptist Church and St. Paul Baptist Church. Yvonne served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the church’s missionary department. Her faith guided her daily life, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Yvonne spent her early years in Ore City and attended Ore City School before graduating from Mt. Enterprise High School.  She continued her education at Prairie View A&M University, where she developed a passion for serving her community and honed the skills she would carry forward in her lifelong work.

Mrs. Davis had a fulfilling career as a beloved cook at Lakeview Baptist Camp Assembly in Lone Star, Texas and later with Ore City Independent School District.  She was respected not only for her cooking but also for her warmth and kindness, creating a welcoming environment for all who knew her.  Her love for her community was evident in her many contributions through the school system, as well as in her volunteer work with the PTA and Band Boosters. She was also a proud member of the Democratic Party and maintained a strong sense of civic duty. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Northeast Minority Coalition.

On August 24, 1957, she married her loving and supportive husband, Felton Davis, Jr.

Yvonne transitioned into eternal rest peacefully at her home in Ore City, Texas, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 17, 2024. She now joins family members who preceded her in death: Her parents, W. H. and Ardalia Ford. Three brothers: General Ford, Kay Ford and Willie Ford. One sister, Elnora Tatum; and two grandsons: Daniel Harmon and Bobby Staten. Son-in-law, Bruce Jackson.

Yvonne is no longer with us but will never be forgotten by family and friends left to remember her life: Her beloved husband of 67 years, Felton Davis, Jr. of Ore City, TX. Her children: Connice Davis of Ft. Worth, TX; Barbara Staley (Raymond) of Tyler, TX; Winifred Jackson of Ore City, TX; and, Angela Davis of Mesquite, TX. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in her grandchildren: Passion Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Tristan Davis-Hartfield, Sherri Staley, Raya Staley, and Keland Staley (Tia); great-grandchildren: Madison Davis, Jaden Davis, Jerrin Norris, Kherris Early Davis, Aysia Burton, Nakyra Burton, Isaiah Charles, Jr., Trayvion Charles, Jaida Staley, Leah Staley, Matthew Staley; and, three great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings, who meant the world to her: Bobbie Ford, Scelester Ford, David Ford, Jurel N. White, Melva D. Belvin and Gloria Crayton. Brothers-in-law: Robert Davis (Linda) and L.C. Davis (Muriel). Sisters-in-law: Velma Harper, Zelma Johnson, Juanita Sanders, Floria Davis, Diana Ford and Alice Ford. Her beloved aunt, Louisa Hartfield. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends will fondly remember her gentle spirit and unwavering love. Mrs. Yvonne Ford Davis will be remembered for her compassion, faith, and dedication to family and community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion lives on in the lives she touched.
