Zeffie Novella Thomas, known to her family and friends as Mom, Grandma and Gigi, passed on to her eternal home in heaven December 25, 2020 at the age of 88. Novella (as she preferred to be called) was born June 27, 1932 and married Maurice Thomas June 12, 1949. Maurice preceded her in death in 2003. A native of Texas, Novella found herself moving around as the Navy relocated she and her husband from Texas to California to Washington and then back to California. After raising their four children in California they once again returned to their beloved Texas.


Novella is survived by her four children, Jerry Thomas (JoBetsy), Shirley Carpenter (Dennis, passed 2020), Bill Thomas (Becky), and Tina Conticelli (Nick). Nine grandchildren, Trevor Carpenter (passed 2017), Megan Hamlin (Ryan), Julie Allen (Matt), Leslie Rhodes (Daniel), Brittany Barnett (Bradley), Ryan Thomas, Kaci Thomas, Tanner Conticelli, Dylan Conticelli. Sixteen great-grandchildren, Sarah Carpenter, Thomas Carpenter,
Elijah Carpenter, Samuel Carpenter, Wyatt Hamlin, Emma Hamlin, Delana Allen, Ella Rhodes, Davis Rhodes, Makenzie Barnett, Olivia Barnett, Natalie Barnett, Addyson Conticelli, Camdyn Conticelli, Novella Conticelli and Kade Johnston. Also surviving Novella are her brother George Bryant (Rebecca) of Wichita Falls, Texas, her sister Dorothy Aly of Burleson, Texas and brother-in-law George Thomas (Helen) of Seattle Washington.
Family always came first which included her many nieces, nephews, and life long friends. After passing away peacefully, Novella made it HOME for Christmas.


Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Holly Street Church of God 807 Holly Street , Atlanta, Texas 75551.

  2. Mr and Mrs Thomas have shared with many first Immigrant from The Netherlands not knowing many American traditions. So for the many things I have from the Thomas family.
    Mrs Thomas showed up for me when she knew my mom could at school functions. She was like an my adopted mom . She often had conversations with me. I will eternally be grateful for their kindness and welcoming me in their home.
    I love both Mr and Mrs Thomas . They have touched my heart ? ?
