William "Billy Paul" Davis was born October 8, 1940 in Colmesneil, Texas to Clarence H. and Elsa E. Davis. He passed away September 8, 2021. Billy Paul served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation. He served as a referee and umpire for a number of years in South and East Texas. He was a member of the Ore City Church of Christ. Billy Paul enjoyed horse races, baseball, and football. He loved his family and one of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports.
Billy Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Garland; granddaughter, Ashley Keith Ann Campbell; sisters, Betty Ruth, Wanda Joyce "Punkin"; and brothers, James Lewis "Buster", Darrell Eugene, Thomas Logan "Tommy".
He leaves behind his wife, Lynda Davis; children, Cynthia Allen (Kevin), Harold Jones (Kriste), Anna Jo Hays (Neil); grandchildren, Malynda, Cody (Taylor), Bubba, Dustin (Riley), Kayla (Andy), Madlynn Rae, Collan, Kendall, Claytan; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Gatlin, Grayson, Lyndon, Cooper, and Jackson; sisters, Marilyn Dean, Lynda Hope Cashat; brother, Charles Davis; brother-in-law, Jerry Beard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 at Ore City Church of Christ with Johnny Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday and lasting until service time.
