June 27, 1948 ~ June 7, 2009
Mary went to Heaven to be with our Lord, our Father on Sunday, June 7, 2009. She married Marcos, Sr. on September 17, 1966. When he first laid eyes on her at a nursery, he said Thats the woman Im going to marry. They fell in love and have been in love for the past 43 years. They were each others best friends. Mary was a loving, caring wife and mother. She was known by many and loved by everyone. She loved to laugh and she loved life. Mary enjoyed singing in church as part of the choir. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace. She was loved by her church family. She was a packrat to the Tee. She kept everything. Even a piece of gum wrapper that her grandson Ruben gave to her. Her grandchildren were her world. She loved spending every minute with them. She enjoyed playing video games and listening to music and dancing. She and her husband would spend many afternoons on the porch swing watching and listening to birds. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband Marcos, Sr, of Avinger; two sons Marcos (Tina) Escalante, Jr. and Martin (Rose Marie) Escalante, both of Avinger; two daughters Maria (Jose) Urdiales of Sweeney and Margarita (Autro) Hernandez of Tyler; three brothers Gilbert Gutierrez, Paul Gutierrez, and Salvador Gutierrez all of Houston; two sisters Gloria (Pete) Trevino of Dallas and Lupe Gutierrez of Houston; 22 grandchildren India and Bobby Raymo, Lauren and Scott Reed, Jerry Giddens, Jessica and Jeremy Lloyd, Nerissa and Scott Joubert, Cynthia Escalante, Ashlie, Mia, Julia and Ruben Urdiales, Roland, Brittany, Devin, Sheyenne and Samantha Escalante, Naomi Powell, Arturo, Jr. and Marcos Hernandez; seven great grandchildren Allen, Nicolas, Cole, Baby Lloyd, Halley, Levi, Esau; her best friend of 31 years, Barbara Boening, that she considered to be her sister whom she loved very dearly; many nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Mary's passing. She worked here for a while at the school cafeteria. We just today learned of her passing. She was a great worker and an even greater person, we all loved her and enjoyed her so much. We were sad when decided not to work any more and she will be greatly missed.
