Funeral services for Merline Barton, 83, of Hughes Springs will be 11 AM on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Rev. Butch Shipp and Rev. Larry Neeley officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Barton was born January 30, 1927 in Morris County, TX to William Loyd Lancaster and Cleo Jacobs Lancaster, and passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at her home. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law William and Pat Barton of Hughes Springs and Bobby and Debbie Barton of Ore City; one daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Billy McKelvy of Llano; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother Larnce Lancaster of Hughes Springs; two sisters Betty Owens of Hughes Springs and Wilma Boyd of Longview; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey, her parents, one grandson Greg Barton and one sister Juanita Gunn. Mrs. Barton will lie in state on Thursday, October 21, 2010 and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.

Our thoughts are with you. I remember when My husband passed away ,Merline & Dewey drove to Greenville with Uncle Leonard & Aunt Evelyn to see Me. I will never forget that.

I will miss aunt Merline and her knowledge of planting and cooking. Lord, this dear woman could cook and garden like no one else could.My deepest sympathy an love to my cousins William and Bobby and their families.
