Funeral services for Erma Gene Dooley Ford are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited Monday September 12, 2011 in the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Gene was born August 15, 1931 in Pittsburg, Texas to Joe and Earnestine Dooley. She completed Elementary and Jr. High School in Cason, Texas. Erma Gene completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English at Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Her teaching career began in 1958 at J.J. Rhodes School. She also taught in the Daingerfield Independent School District at South Elementary. Erma was married to the late Tommy Ford who preceded her in death. To this union no children were born. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church until death. Members of her community best remember her as Ms. Dooley, Ms. Gene, and Ms. Ford. She loved walking to town to browse around the stores, eating and visiting with friends at the Golden Blessing. She leaves to mourn in her passing two brothers, Charles E. Dooley of Powder Springs, GA, Henry (Boozie) S. Dooley (Bessie) of Fort Worth, TX. Two nephews, John S. Dooley of Georgia and Henry S. Dooley Jr. of Ft. Worth. Five Nieces all of Georgia: Edwolyn Dooley-Higgins, Alesia Dooley-Carroll, Ann Mills, Earnestine Dooley, Mary Jo Dooley, and Kristi Dooley who preceded her in death.
